About Us

Nancy & Craig Nancy Yun-Sheldon opened Gemstone Creations on September 1, 1992 at 524 Caroline Street. We moved to 606 Caroline Street, our current location, in early May, 2006, accomplishing the move in two days. In September 2011 we celebrated our 19th Anniversary! Nancy has been in the jewelry business for more than 25 years, working in and managing chain jewelry stores in the Fredericksburg area and Northern Virginia before opening Gemstone Creations. She is a Diamonds Graduate from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and has completed several other GIA courses. Nancy loves to work with customers to help them find just the right piece of jewelry. One of her favorite things is to design a custom, one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry and then watch the customer's smile get bigger and bigger as they try it on for the first time. Craig Sheldon came to Gemstone Creations by marrying Nancy. Craig just completed a more than 30 year federal government career and is no longer commuting up the road to DC. While he was working in DC he helped out behind the scenes. He is the designer of our exclusive line of Fredericksburg charms and has earned GIA's Accredited Jewelry Professional title. Craig will now be helping out more managing this website, working on our social media, helping computerize the store, creating a custom jewelry line, designing more charms and, when Nancy gets desperate, working on the sales floor. At Gemstone Creations, LLC, we carry a full line of diamonds, including natural fancy yellows and champagnes, colored gemstones and pearls. We also feature jewelry made out of non-traditional materials like amber and ammolite and an extensive estate jewelry collection. We have a large selection of Citizen watches and an eclectic collection of gift items including Debbie Brooks handbags, Miche Bags and Himalayan salt lamps. For bead lovers, we carry Trollbeads, the original bead jewelry, developed in Denmark more than 30 years ago. We also carry several fun jewelry lines. Our newest is Kameleon, with hundreds of interchangeable jewel pops that fit rings, bracelets – even sunglasses. Family owned and operated, Gemstone Creations, LLC is proud to be an IJO Master Jeweler and a member of the Fredericksburg Downtown Retail Merchants, Incorporated. We also support many national and local charities and schools and happily welcome students from the University of Mary Washington. It's said that Fredericksburg may be America's most historic city. Built in 1851, our building survived more than two years of almost constant warfare during the Civil War. George Washington grew up in Fredericksburg and although he did not sleep in this building, at one time he owned the land that it sits on.
